About the Paid Internship role
The Renewable Integration and Secure Electricity Unit provides advice on policies, regulatory instruments and market design improvements to accelerate the decarbonisation of the power system. This is done through detailed power system modelling, through topical reports on Power System Transformation, Market Design or EV Integration, and through country specific analyses for IEA association and member countries like China, France, India, Indonesia, Korea and Thailand.

The paid internship will support RISE’s activities within the Regulatory Energy Transition Accelerator and on clean electricity procurement. The ideal candidate would bring both a sound understanding of policy making and external communications, allowing them to synthesise complex technical material into accessible concept notes, agendas and dissemination material.

Requirements of the paid internship role:
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English (working knowledge of other languages is advantageous).
• Current Masters or PhD student studying in relevant disciplines such as environmental, energy or public policy, energy economics, social sciences, environmental sciences, orrelated fields. Applicants with experience in communications and marketing are also encouraged to apply.
• Demonstratable knowledge in energy policy and power sector; along with curiosity and willingness to deepen their knowledge
• Previous experience in event organisation or communications, through conferences, university clubs or civil society organisations, community management
• Competent drafting, with attention to detail and the ability to tailor communication depending on various types of audience
• Data analysis and management, demonstrated in past work (analytical reports, university assignments and/or published papers).
• Experience with Excel, Power Point is essential, WordPress and community management tools are advantageous
• Please note interns must be enrolled in a Masters or PhD programme during the full duration of the paid internship.
• The paid internships are based in Paris, France.

What you can expect
Good analysis is only as good as it is communicated. During this internship you can expect to hone your skills acting as bridge between very technical analysis and the key messages that are relevant for policy makers and decision makers. Building on IEA and external research, you will be able to contribute to shaping messaging for policy briefs. By actively taking part in eventorganisation you will improve your communications and logistics skills, all in a young, international team at the IEA Headquarters in Paris.
