About the Senior Researcher role

The Senior Researcher will lead qualitative research and analysis exploring how institutions and actors have influenced climate change adaptation measurement approaches and the resulting impacts of measurement on national and international norms, policies and practices. The Senior Researcher will lead research into national planning processes on climate change adaptation in Nepal and other countries in the region working as part of an international project with collaborators at University College London and the African Research and Impact Network.

The Senior Researcher role will involve leading and designing semi-structured interviews, developing theoretical frameworks, observing national and international policy processes and adaptation programmes, analysing documents and engaging with a range of policy stakeholders.  The Senior Researcher will need to collaborate closely with the rest of the team to make the multi-scalar linkages between the research sites. This will involve attending annual retreats, write shops and undertaking collaborative coding.

About you

You have a Ph.D in Human Geography, Environmental Sciences, International Relations, Science and Technology Studies, Political Science or related fields and have  sound knowledge and working experience in climate change adaptation, national and international climate policy and UN negotiation process mainly in global goal on adaptation. Excellent knowledge on national adaptation plan, and priorities, climate change related institutions and their role. You have good understanding of gender and social inclusion and its linkages with climate change adaptation. You have proven experience in national policy making process on climate change, climate finance and climate change adaptation. You have sound communication and writing skills in English.
