We are seeking passionate and skilled humanitarian professionals who share our Mission, Vision and Core Values as we help children experience life in all its fullness, even during crises.

Before applying for our Emergency Response roster, please make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a mix of home country and international experience in humanitarian responses within complex, fragile and conflict related contexts
  • Two years of international experience outside of your home country/local assignment
  • Demonstrated understanding of humanitarian principles, standards and best practices
  • Experience working in high pressure, rapid response environments with multiple risk factors
  • Strong communication skills in English (oral and written) with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Emotional intelligence (self-awareness, managing emotions and those of others, remaining calm/composed, dealing with ambiguity and change)
  • Ability to work with a reasonable level of comfort in high tension and high security risk situations.

Our current key staffing needs for the Emergency Response Roster are:

  • Response Directors
  • Programme Directors
  • Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Advisor

(Please note: 3 months to one-year contract position with possibility of an extension based on performance and budget).

Response Director

We’re looking for senior, experienced humanitarian leaders who will use their strong track record in complex crises and fragile contexts and excellent team leadership skills to lead a response from strategy to implementation.

As a Response Director, you will lead World Vision’s multi-country humanitarian response during a crisis, ensuring effective scale up and delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected vulnerable people and other countries as required. 

You will oversee all aspects of the response from strategy to implementation including team management, partner relations, risk management and relations with a wider range of local and international stakeholders for this large scale response in a complex, fluid and challenging humanitarian context with a high level of global interest and engagement. 


Requirements:

  • You have a minimum of 15 years in leadership roles in the humanitarian assistance and development sector, with a significant portion of this in INGOs.
  • At least 10 years’ senior management experience in humanitarian responses within complex, fragile and conflict related contexts.
  • University degree in humanitarian, development, international relations or relevant field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent communications and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of humanitarian principles, standards and best practices. 
  • Experience in leading a multi-cultural team of professionals 
  • Experience working in high pressure, rapid response environments with multiple risks  
  • External engagement at senior level with governments and multilateral agencies

Programme Director

We’re looking for humanitarian programming professionals who will use their experience in integrated development of donor funded projects with a proven record of winning grants to ensure funding and maintain a high level of accountability to internal and external partners.

As aProgramme Director, you will oversee multiple teams, contributing to the strategy, resourcing, technical and partnering quality of World Vision’s response. Management oversight includes Grant Acquisition and Management; technical quality; Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL); and Information Management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Raising WV’s Response income portfolio, e.g. (public grants, private funds, foundations).
  • Ensuring sterling grant acquisition and management /compliance within the response.
  • Driving strategy design and implementation.
  • Ensuring design and implementation of sound and effective technical best practices and evidence-based approaches.

Requirements:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in humanitarian programming (designing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring) of integrated development, relief and/or advocacy of donor funded projects with proven record of winning grants.
  • Core understanding of key aspect of humanitarian work including Cash, Education, Child Protection, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) as well as resilience, integration of advocacy in programming.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills such as coaching / mentoring.
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working in complex emergency/rehabilitation settings.
  • Excellent time-management and prioritisation.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Advisor


As a MHPSS Advisor, you will provide Mental Health and Psychosocial Support technical guidance for programming, clinical supervision, and capacity building of staff, implementing partners and guiding mental health and psychosocial support interventions. You will ensure effective implementation and monitoring of psychological intervention of mental health and psychosocial support, in relation to all tasks related to support of field and office operations.

Requirements:

  • Mental Health professional with a Degree in Counselling Psychology, Psychology, Clinical Psychology or related field in Mental Health.
  • Clinical experience at community level, either in a research or clinical capacity
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in mental health and psychosocial support in humanitarian settings and one of which has to be at a supervisory level.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision in individual and group settings and setting up supervisory models for large-scale MHPSS programs.
  • Experience working with MHPSS Implementing partner’s in humanitarian settings.
  • Experience conducting MHPSS-related trainings and development of training materials.
  • Strong organisational and supervisory skills and strong g interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments
  • Ability to work within a team structure or in isolation, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver in a fast paced environment
