RE4AFAGRI ( Renewables for African Agriculture Integrating Modelling Excellence and Robust Business Models) is pleased to announce ONLINE training courses in water-energy-land nexus for equitable development in rural Africa, starting this June 2024! The modules are targeted at both business analysts and policymakers eager to use model-outputs and business analysis tools, and to researchers and scientists seeking to use scientific nexus models.

Building on the success of the week-long Joint Workshops held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in October 2023, RE4AFAGRI (https://www.re4afagri.africa) is pleased to announce online training courses starting in June 2024!

These capacity building activities aim to support African researchers, analysts, business and policy makers on a range of topics relating to the water-energy-land nexus and rural development. This includes working in assessment and planning in the water resources, agriculture, irrigation, and energy sectors focusing on models, data and content that is open access and open source, and how this can be used to support scenario analysis and policy design

For the Online Training Courses, two courses are being offered, each comprising a number of modules:

  • RE4AFAGRI Dashboards & business models → target audience: analysts, business and policy makers, interested and working on topics related to the water-energy-land nexus and rural development in sub-Saharan Africa
  • RE4AFAGRI nexus modelling framework → target audience: researchers, scientists, technical practitioners, technical support institutions working on topics related to the water-energy-land nexus and rural development in sub-Saharan Africa. Typically those in mid-career stage and/or with Masters degree equivalent.

During the courses, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the trainers in online interactive sessions, beside watching training videos. Each participant will receive a certificate upon completion of each module followed, conditional on passing an online test and completing a task related to the model contents. Further details will be announced in the introdution webinar.
