The Rwanda Green Fund (RGF) in partnership with the “Capacity Development for the Implementation of Rwanda´s NDC” project implemented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Rwanda together with the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Rwanda have developed a Young Professionals Program on Climate Finance for talented university graduates in order to start a career in climate and green finance. Through the program, the graduates will receive on-the-job trainings, get access to international courses, participate in several workshops and much more to become the climate and green financing experts of tomorrow.

Program Overview:

The Young Professionals Program is a year-long opportunity designed for young professionals like you to delve into green and climate financing initiatives. Start is in September 2024. You’ll work with two different renowned Rwandan institutions, spending six months with each. This rotation system ensures you gain diverse experiences and skills while making meaningful contributions to sustainability efforts. It’s a straightforward path to developing expertise and expanding your career horizons.

Throughout your time at the institutions, you’ll have a mentor dedicated to guiding you through your role and providing support as you progress through the program.

In addition to your work with two institutions, you’ll engage in online courses, workshops, and training sessions focusing on green and climate financing. You’ll also develop practical skills like using IT tools in your daily tasks. Upon completing the 12-month program, you’ll undergo evaluation, and a positive assessment will result in a certification.

In other words, you can expect to gain more experience and knowledge as well as build your soft and hard skills. After the program, you will be ready to dive into the work environment equipped with valuable skills and practical experience.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields such as Economics, Business Administration, Sustainability, ESG, Environmental and Climate Change Studies, Agriculture, Finance and Banking, etc. with outstanding academic credentials
  • 2 years (min. 24 months) of work experience (incl. internships and volunteering)
  • Passionate about Green Financing and Climate Action
  • Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda. French is a plus
  • Be 30 years old or younger when applying
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Rwandan resident
