Background
The Conflict Lab, a youth-led initiative committed to promoting collaboration on conflict resolution and sustainable development across Africa, is seeking dynamic candidates interested in working on innovative conflict resolution to solve Africa’s problems and position the Lab’s goals as an anchor institution firmly rooted in the African continent by sharing knowledge on policy advocacy and research skills for the benefit of African society. The fellowships are awarded following a selection process that considers candidates’ academic achievements, professional experience, skills, and commitment to policy advocacy and research. Applicants are expected to have a good educational background and demonstrated interest and commitment to policy advocacy, social justice, peace, human rights, and community engagement.
About the Virtual Fellowship Program
This is an invaluable opportunity for young people to be trained in research and policy advocacy, to enable youth to articulate their perspectives confidently and assertively, ensuring their voices are heard and valued in policy-making processes. Through this fellowship program, we seek to foster a generation of empowered, informed, and proactive youth leaders capable of addressing systemic inequalities and promoting inclusive development across Africa.
The Youth Advocacy and Research fellowship aims to empower African youth with the skills and knowledge needed to bridge the gap between research and advocacy. This Research and Policy Advocacy fellowship program will equip you with the tools to influence policy and contribute to sustainable development across Africa.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background:
● Candidates should hold or be in the final year of completing a diploma, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree in relevant fields, including but not limited to social sciences, humanities, law, public policy, international relations, or related disciplines.
● Candidates who hold or are currently enrolled in PhD programs in relevant fields are also encouraged to apply.
Professional Experience:
● Demonstrated interest and involvement in policy advocacy, social justice, and community engagement through internships, volunteer work, or professional roles.
● Previous experience in research, either academic or applied, is desirable but not mandatory.
Skills Proficiency:
● Proficiency in research methodologies relevant to the social sciences or humanities, including the ability to conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and formulate research questions. Note: Candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant coursework, workshops, or practical experiences related to research methodologies, even if they have limited exposure. Emphasis will be placed on the ability to learn and apply these skills effectively during the fellowship program.
● Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey ideas and research findings.
