Job Descritption
Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for an Analytics Engineer to play a crucial role in its Technology Department – enhancing the performance, cohesion, and alignment of its entire global network and supporting its mission to achieve a green and peaceful future through strategic technology and data solutions.
The Technology Department delivers technology and data solutions that enable the Greenpeace network to win campaigns, faster, and to support an effective and efficient global organisation through the massive strategic uplift that technology can give:

You will contribute to the design, development, and automation of global data pipelines and analytic services. Your work will facilitate secure, scalable, self-service data and insights work across Greenpeace International.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with data engineers, analytic engineers, the Data Platform Product team, and other global data team members.
- Create and maintain transformation pipelines and workflows using dbt Core
- Develop data systems and architecture at GPI and across the Greenpeace network.
- Contribute to the Global Data Strategy, including creating frameworks, standards, and principles for data architecture.
- Lead the secure and efficient transfer of data across departments, ensuring clear management of data flows.
- Provide expert input and strategic advice to various teams and projects at Greenpeace International.
- Design and integrate major enterprise technology systems and platform projects.
- Address complex software and data system design challenges.
- Ensure data projects meet key data management standards, including user interfaces, security, data curation, deduplication, and automation.
- Support the maintenance and documentation of data pipelines.
- Maintain high-quality coding standards and provide system support.
- Create high-quality documentation for existing data engineering modules, including non-technical audience architecture diagrams.
Job requirements
Remember, no one has every skill or experience needed for this role, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot from the team. Greenpeace believe someone who has a few of these is well suited to succeed in this role:
- Extensive depth and breadth of experience as an analytics engineer, including expertise to lead projects and design without supervision.
- A postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional accreditation in Computer Science (or related field) and significant experience in software development, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
- Strong experience delivering transformation pipelines using dbt.
- Strong experience delivering cloud-based engineering solutions; specific experience on Google Cloud Platform is desirable, including:
- BigQuery and data warehouse design patterns,
- Serverless compute, including Cloud Run and Google Cloud Functions,
- Proficiency in Python & SQL.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent technical and end-user documentation skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network core aims and values.
