The Green Business Development Support for Women Entrepreneurs initiative supports women entrepreneurs committed to driving Africa’s green transformation, offering tailored green business development services to boost competitiveness, sustainable growth, and job creation.

The GIZ Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (IYBA-WE4A) programme in Uganda is now accepting applications from women-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for Green Business Development Services Support
The WE4A program’s primary focus is to increase women’s economic participation and gender equality, contributing to the green transformation in selected Sub-Saharan African countries. The program’s overarching goal is to support sustainable, inclusive, and green growth in these regions. Specifically, it aims to enhance the economic empowerment and financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs in sectors driving the green transformation. WE4A Intends, through its potential partnership with the selected Entrepreneurship Support Organisation (ESO) to deliver green business development services.

To Increase the economic empowerment and financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs contributing to the green transformation’
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IYBA-WE4A Green Business Development Services Support, applicants must be women entrepreneurs or women-led enterprises offering market-ready or near-market solutions within the Green and Circular Economy. Businesses should show early signs of traction, strong innovation potential, and readiness to scale.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Women-owned or led businesses with a market ready solution, or at minimum, a proof of concept
- or product prototype, looking to refine their business models and scale innovative, sustainable green solutions.
- Operating in or aligned with the Green and Circular Economy sectors, with solutions that are innovative, market-driven, and scalable.
- Demonstrated early market traction, such as revenue generation, customer acquisition, or strategic partnerships.
- Committed, growth-oriented teams, capable of absorbing investment and effectively applying business insights to accelerate growth

- Sustainable agriculture & agro-processing
- Eco-tourism
- Blue economy & aquaculture
- Renewable energy
- Circular economy
- Green logistics
- Sustainable construction
