Overview

The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Communications and Public Relations Officer.

Required Skills and Competencies

1. Strong expertise in communication strategy and public relations.
2. Experience in communication strategy development, media relations, and public engagement.
3. Proficiency in digital communication tools, content creation, and social media management.
4. Experience in designing and disseminating communication materials, particularly in the context of international development or public health.
5. Proficiency in office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and basic design tools.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
8. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
9. Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
10. Proficiency in one AU official language (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic), with fluency in another as an advantage.
11. Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
12. Excellent presentation, report writing, and communication skills.

Education and Experience:

​​​​​​​A Master’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field with a minimum relevant experience of two (2) years of working experience within multilateral/ development institutions or similar organisations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

• Experience in international development or public health programs is added advantage.

OR

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field with a minimum relevant experience of four (4) years of working experience within multilateral/ development institutions or similar organisations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

• Experience in international development or public health programs is added advantage.

​​​​​​​Remuneration: Indicative basic salary of US$35,044.83 per annum plus other entitlements e.g., Communications and Public Relations Officer Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($21,832.88 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary) in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
