Are you a young African with lived experience, strong opinions and bold ideas on policy reform and youth inclusion? Africa Youth Policy Dialogue Series, is launching a call for submissions of short, well researched opinion and policy papers that reflect on pressing policy matters affecting youth across Africa.
Selected submissions will be featured in its Youth Policy Compendium 2025 and widely circulated across AY-PDS networks and relevant stakeholders across Africa. Contributions can include essays, thought pieces, brief research papers, or reflective analyses.
Submission Criteria & Guidelines
To ensure relevance, quality, and alignment with the goals of the Africa Youth Policy Dialogue Series, all submitted policy papers must meet the following:
Authorship
- Papers may be co-authored by a maximum of 3 authors.
- At least one author must be of African descent and within the age range of 18–35.
- Each author must clearly indicate their full name, country, email, and affiliation (if any).
Thematic Relevance
Submissions must address policy issues affecting youth in Africa, aligned with one or more of these thematic pillars:
- Education
- Gender Equity
- Digital Rights & Technology
- Youth Leadership & Inclusion
- Access to Justice
- Governance Participation
- Economic Empowerment
- Health & Wellbeing
- Migration
- Climate & Environment
Paper Format
- Length: 1,500 – 2,000 words
- Format: Microsoft Word
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing
- Referencing style: APA 7th Edition
Quality Standards
- Submissions must be original (not published elsewhere).
- Use clear, concise, and persuasive language.
- Provide evidence or references where necessary.
- Include actionable policy recommendations or solutions.
Review & Recognition
- Selected papers will be peer-reviewed by a panel of experts.
- Accepted papers will be published in the Africa Youth Policy Compendium 2025.
- Authors of selected papers will receive certificates and spotlight features across our platforms.
