Applications are now open for the 2025 Watts Up Africa Renewable Energy Youth Champions Program, a unique initiative empowering the next generation of African leaders to drive a just and sustainable energy transition.
About Watts Up Africa
Watts Up Africa is a leading pan-African campaign advocating for 100% renewable energy across Africa. The campaign responds to the urgent reality that while Africa holds over 60% of the world’s best solar resources, it receives less than 3% of global clean energy investments. Through initiatives like the Youth Champions Program, Watts Up Africa amplifies youth voices, advances climate justice, and promotes community-led clean energy solutions.
Who Can Apply?
This fully pan-African initiative welcomes applications from:
- Youth aged 18 to 35 years
- Residents of Africa or members of the African diaspora
- Individuals engaged in or passionate about:
- Renewable energy projects
- Climate justice advocacy
- Community-driven development
If you are already active in youth energy networks in Africa, leading grassroots initiatives, or simply passionate about climate action, this program is designed for you.

Selected Renewable Energy Youth Champions will gain:
