Overview
GAYO is looking for a dedicated and visionary Finance Manager who understands the intricacies of its work and can ensure the sound management of its resources through the implementation of robust financial systems. You will ensure compliance with internal policies and donor requirements, oversee data management and financial analysis, generate accurate reports, develop and monitor budgets, manage cash flow, and support fundraising efforts with strategic financial insights.

Position Description
As Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) continues expanding across Africa, with an active presence in three countries, strong financial leadership has become increasingly critical. GAYO is seeking a dedicated and visionary Finance Manager who understands the intricacies of its work and can ensure the sound management of its resources through the implementation of robust financial systems.
Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with internal policies and donor requirements, overseeing data management and financial analysis, generating accurate reports, developing and monitoring budgets, managing cash flow, and supporting fundraising efforts with strategic financial insights. The Finance Manager will be pivotal in shaping GAYO’s financial future by promoting sustainability, compliance, and alignment with our mission. As a core senior leadership team member, this role will oversee all financial operations, drive organizational efficiency, manage regulatory obligations, and lead the finance team while providing forward thinking guidance to inform decision-making.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and accounting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, including active listening, empathy, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent knowledge of internal controls, financial systems, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in preparing financial reports and dashboards for diverse stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel. Strong writing, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership, managerial, or supervisory role in the non-profit sector.
- Proven experience with donor-funded projects and compliance (including development and UN agencies) and NGO financial management is highly desirable.
- Prior experience and proven ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, tax regulations, and financial compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Google Sheet skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
