Call for Applications: WAAW Foundation Scholarships for female college students in Africa

Overview

WAAW Foundation Scholarship enables female college students in Africa to pursue their studies in a STEM-related course. With the WAAW Foundation scholarship, you are free to focus on achieving your academic goal and volunteer to give back to your community and promote the engagement of women in STEM through the STEM Outreach Chapter at their university.

WAAW Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Programme supports African female students pursuing university degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

WAAW Foundation is looking for scholars that show a need, have the passion, and drive to make a difference in their community.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Female students of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program.
  • Studying STEM-related courses in a University or college in Africa.
  • Presently a first or second year student or a third-year student for a 5-year course in a University.
  • Ability to demonstrate financial need
  • Excellent Academic Record.
  • Proven leadership, volunteering, and community service
  • Below the age of 32 years.

If selected for the scholarship, you will be required to fulfill the following commitments. Please read carefully before proceeding or opting out.

Dimensions of the Program: (i) Participate in the mandatory Virtual Orientation & Onboarding Session (ii) Establish or join a WAAW STEM Chapter, onboard at least six fellows, and lead a minimum of eight outreach programs focused on empowering girls in STEM. (iii) Actively participate in monthly Fellows’ Meet-Ups, respond to surveys, and engage in the WAAW Scholars online community. (iv) Complete all outreach and engagement milestones to remain in good standing and qualify for disbursement of scholarship installments. (v) Maintain open communication with WAAW Foundation and grant consent for the use of name, photos, and stories in program communications and media
