The African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) is recruiting a Policy, Research & Advocacy Manager, offering a high-impact leadership opportunity for professionals passionate about economic justice, public finance, and sustainable development in Africa.

The Policy, Research & Advocacy Manager plays a central role in translating research into impactful advocacy and policy change across the continent.

Role Overview: Policy, Research and Advocacy Manager

The Policy, Research & Advocacy Manager is responsible for leading AFRODAD’s research agenda, shaping evidence-based policy positions, and driving advocacy strategies at national, regional, and global levels.

This is a senior role that requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to engage effectively with policymakers, civil society, and development partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Policy and Research Leadership

  • Lead the design and implementation of AFRODAD’s policy and research programmes
  • Oversee high-quality research on public debt, fiscal policy, development finance, and economic governance
  • Ensure research outputs are policy-relevant, evidence-based, and aligned with AFRODAD’s strategic objectives
  • Guide the production of policy briefs, reports, and position papers

2. Advocacy Strategy and Engagement

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies informed by research findings
  • Engage with governments, regional bodies, multilateral institutions, and civil society organizations
  • Represent AFRODAD in policy dialogues, conferences, and high-level forums
  • Strengthen coalitions and partnerships to amplify advocacy impact

3. Programme Management and Coordination

  • Coordinate cross-country and regional research initiatives
  • Manage project planning, implementation, and reporting
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement through strong programme design and documentation
  • Ensure monitoring, evaluation, and learning across advocacy and research activities

4. Team Leadership and Capacity Building

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to research and advocacy staff
  • Foster collaboration across teams and partner organizations
  • Strengthen institutional capacity for policy analysis and advocacy

Who Should Apply?
