The East African Girls and Young Feminist Fund 2026–2027 Call for Applications is open to support community responsive ideas toward feminist futures and grassroots movement building. Grants are unrestricted and may be multi year depending on funding availability.
Overview
The East African Girls and Young Feminist Fund (EAGYFF) invites proposals from girl-led and young feminist collectives and organizations in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania that are implementing
community-responsive ideas toward feminist futures and grassroots movement-building.
EAGYFF is a feminist fund under CivFund that aims to resource girls and young feminists across East Africa to implement, test and grow their initiatives while contributing to movement building. The EAGYFF is grounded in movements and aims to listen to, support and accompany girls and young feminists on their own terms. Grants from the fund are unrestricted and can be multi-year, depending on funding availability. Multi-year grants will only be accessible to groups previously receiving funding from the Fund.
Eligibility
EAGYFF is open to grassroots initiatives from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania that are started and led by girls and young feminist collectives. The groups can be registered or unregistered, formalized, or not. Groups of girls and young feminists are eligible based on the following criteria:
- 0-3 years in existence.
- Made up of five or more girls or young women aged 15-35 years old.
- Serving a community of girls and young women in their diversity aged 15-35 years. The initiative can be part of the existing work/program of a larger NGO/CBO that is to be implemented by girls or young feminists.
Grant amounts
Applications for funding maybe made in the following categories:
- New ideas, initiatives and organizations: USD 1000-3000 For new and nascent girls and young feminist groups, initiatives and organizations that are emerging and have not received any institutional funding since inception and have been in operation for less than one (1) year.
This category will also support new girls and young feminist groups that are in the process of formalizing their entities and working towards feminist futures and
movement building. - Middle-level initiatives and organizations: USD 3000-5000 Fairly established girls and young feminist groups that have been in existence for more than 1-3 year, have some emerging structure and have implemented some work either with their own or external funding.
- Well established initiatives and organizations: USD 5000-7500. Girls’ and young feminist groups that have been in existence for more than 3 years, have working structures, and have implemented some work whether self-funded or through external resourcing. Has experience in convening girls spaces.

Successful applicants will receive official communication by April 30, 2026. Only successful applicants will be contacted. Should you not have heard from CIVfund by this date, please consider your
application unsuccessful for this funding round. CIVfund will reach out to you at a later date for other ways in which you can collaborate with the EAGYFF.
