Call for Mentors: Women in Renewable Energy Mentorship Program

Overview

The Women in Renewable Energy Mentorship Program, supported by GIZ Kenya and implemented by The Association for Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK), aims to strengthen the participation and leadership of women in Kenya’s renewable energy sector.

The program connects experienced professionals with early- to mid-career women, recent graduates, and entrepreneurs across renewable energy fields including solar, wind, geothermal, and beyond. As a mentor, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of women leaders by sharing your knowledge, experience, and networks.

Who should Apply

AWEIK is seeking committed and experienced professionals who:

  • Have at least 10–15 years of experience in renewable energy or related sectors
  • Are passionate about supporting and advancing women in energy
  • Are willing to share practical knowledge, career insights, and guidance
  • Have experience in areas such as:
    • Technical (engineering, project development, operations)
    • Policy and regulation
    • Finance and investment
    • Entrepreneurship and business development
    • Research and academia
    • Energy access, climate, or sustainability

Role of a Mentor

Mentors will:

  • Provide career guidance and professional support to assigned mentees
  • Share industry insights, lessons learned, and opportunities
  • Support mentees in setting and achieving career or business goals
  • Participate in structured mentorship sessions (virtual and/or in-person)
  • Contribute to building a strong, supportive professional network

Time Commitment

  • Program duration: 6 months
  • Estimated commitment:
    • 1–2 sessions per month with mentee(s)
    • Participation in selected program activities (launch, check-ins, closing session)
