In 2020, in collaboration with Aalto University Executive Education and Professional Development, UONGOZI Institute launched the Certificate in Leadership to respond to the growing demand for self-paced programmes that empower African executives with skills to thrive. The programme offers participants with tools, insights, and strategies to move beyond traditional management tactics to drive innovation and foster a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered.

Apply to join the next cohort starting in September 2026 for 6 months, e-learning (75%) blended with face-to-face sessions (25%)

A limited number of merit-based scholarships are available.

Overview

UONGOZI Institute invites applications from executives working in any sector across Africa for a self-paced executive programme, Certificate in Leadership. The programme, undertaken in collaboration with Aalto University Executive Education of Finland (Aalto EE), includes three modules running for a period of six months. It provides tools for leaders to effectively manage their resources to achieve sustainable development. It is a ‘must-have’ in today’s rapidly changing business world.

Certificate in Leadership (CiL) is another programme implemented in collaboration with Aalto University Executive Education (Aalto EE) designed for mid-level professionals from across Africa working in any sector.

This self-paced programme is a ‘must-have’ in today’s rapidly changing business world. It provides tools for leaders to effectively manage their resources to achieve sustainable development. It includes 3 modules running for a period of six months. The estimated time commitment per week is 2-4 hours.

Graduates of the programme have an additional advantage into the Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership.

Programme Requirements

  • Duration 6 months
  • Tuition fee TZS 2.6 million per person. The institute provides an option for candidates to pay in two instalments: – 50% in advance of registration (August). – 50% in advance of module 3 (January).
  • Scholarships and discounts Partial scholarships are offered on the basis of merit. Discounts are available for groups.

How to apply

Requirements for admission are:

  • A curriculum Vitae (not exceeding 3 pages).
  • A motivational statement (between 450 – 500 words) explaining your leadership successes, challenges and reasons for applying for the programme.

Selection criteria include:

  • At least three years of work experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Advanced command of English.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Applications must be received by Tuesday, 30 June, 2026 at 23:00 hours (EAT). Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Only successful candidates will be contacted
