Background
The UNFCCC secretariat (UN Climate Change) is the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the
global response to the threat of climate change. UNFCCC stands for United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change. The Convention has near universal membership (197 Parties) and is
the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The main aim of the Paris Agreement is to keep the
global average temperature rise this century as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-
industrial levels.

Sustainabilty Internships Timeframe
The UNFCCC internship is for a period of six months, with the expected starting date between March and May
The exact period will be determined based on the availability of the intern and the needs of the
division. The duration of the UNFCCC internship is six months, subject to the intern’s continued university
enrolment and performance.
Sustainabilty Internships Computer requirements
For a remote internship, candidates will require a laptop or desktop PC (with Windows 10 or newer)
or Mac (with the latest MacOS update), as well as a reliable, high-speed internet connection. An Office
365 license will be provided by the UNFCCC to enable the candidate to access official emails,
SharePoint, OneDrive and other office applications, such as Word and Excel.
Further computer requirements:
-An antivirus application which receives regular updates;
-Browsers must be a newer version with regular updates enabled;
-Regular Windows 10 updates should be enabled with Windows laptop or PC.
In addition, a mobile phone will be required to enable Multifactor Authentication (MFA) through SMS
or the Authenticator App.
Sustainabilty Internships Application procedure
Candidates who are interested in this assignment and meet the minimum requirements must use the
