About Office/Institute

The UNU Human Resources Office (HR-KL), as part of UNU Centre Administration, serves UNU’s Institutes and Offices in 16 locations around the world in the provision of human resources services. This includes HR policy and strategy, as well as business processes and systems and a core set of transactions in HR, including contract administration and global payroll. HR-KL is led by the Chief of Human Resources, who reports to the Director of Administration in Tokyo.

Online Internship – Human Resources Responsibilities

  • Provides support to recruitment processes by posting vacancy announcements, organization of interviews and panels, collecting & filing required documents, drafting minutes/reports.
  • Supports the onboarding and separation process.
  • Provides support for the UNU mentorship programme and ensure effective communication and documentation.
  • Assists in organizing HR training and meetings including notetaking.
  • Supports on building HR knowledge library.
  • Supports on building HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.
  • Assists in tracking and monitoring mandatory training and ensuring timely filing of the certificates.
  • Supports the HR team in achieving overall departmental objectives.
  • Gathers, organizes, and updates relevant HR resources for easy accessibility.
  • Promotes knowledge-sharing within the HR team.
  • Undertakes other tasks of a similar nature as requested.

Online Internship – Human Resources Qualifications

1) Education and certification

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: Human Resources, Business Administration or other relevant subjects is required.
  • Be in their final year of undergraduate study or enrolled in a graduate degree programme or is within the two-year post-graduation (maximum) from either a bachelors’, masters’ or PhD degree programme.

2) Required skills and experience

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with the team.
  • Ability to work with MS Office Suite (MS Word MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Creative thinking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented.

3) Language Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Duration

The duration of the online internship is 3 months. 

Stipend

Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UNU to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.

The monthly amount of the stipend will be determined for each duty station based on the stipend rates in effect. The stipend will be paid on a monthly basis including online internship and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.

Expected start date.

15 April 2024.
