Youth Sustainable Development Conference Overview

The YSDC serves as a pivotal platform fostering collaboration among international development institutions, academia, the private sector, and government institutions. This conference plays a crucial role in deliberating and enhancing combined efforts to support youth-driven solutions in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally. The YSDC over the years have gathered over 1000 delegates, featured 100+ speakers, and hosted 50+ panels.

2024 marks the sixth consecutive year of the YSDC, building on the success of past conferences. Notably, the 2023 YSDC held at Emory University’s campus marked a historic milestone as the first-ever international conference on Energy at Emory University, established in 1836.

The YSDC-EMORY 2023 conference facilitated discussions on climate and energy justice, bringing together youth leaders worldwide. Noteworthy panel discussions included esteemed representatives such as the Consuls General of the Netherlands, France, Ireland, and the German First Secretary in Atlanta. These discussions delved into each country’s position on climate and energy justice, with a focus on the groundbreaking Paris Agreement, contributing to a deeper understanding of international perspectives and commitments in addressing climate and energy challenges.

Past YSDC conferences have featured prominent speakers, including Jacob Veerman (Netherlands Consul General in Atlanta), Caoimhe Ní Chonchúir (Consul General of Ireland in Atlanta), Anne-Laure Desjonquères (Consul General of the Consulate of France in Atlanta), Dana Clare Redden (Founder of Solar Stewards), Oneal Lajuwomi (CEO, Wavelength IPS), and Eri Saikawa (Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences, Emory University).
