Job description  

Climate Focus has a unique position in global carbon markets, acting amongst others as strategic advisors to market participants, a provider of market intelligence and by contributing to the global debate on the role of voluntary carbon markets. This is an excellent opportunity to join the company and work with a pioneering, versatile and dynamic team that is committed to make an impact.  

As a Consultant Carbon Markets, you will work in close collaboration with your Climate Focus colleagues on the following tasks:

Support advisory projects for corporate, governmental and multilateral clients in the area of voluntary carbon markets

Compile carbon market intelligence and tailor it to the needs of clients
Conduct due diligence on carbon credit projects. Preference for previous experience in nature-based solutions, but other sectoral backgrounds are encouraged to apply
Contribute to the development, implementation and policy dialogue around voluntary carbon markets

Support clients in developing and structuring investments and programs that are supported by carbon and/or climate finance
Take charge and/or support the management of Climate Focus projects
Support the expansion of Climate Focus’s project pipeline.

Consultant Carbon Markets Profile

Master degree in carbon management, economics, business, climate policy, natural sciences, international cooperation or similar
At least 3 years of professional experience in carbon markets and/or climate finance
Strong analytical capacities including qualitative and quantitative analysis. Affinity with greenhouse gas accounting is an asset

Excellent writing, communication and advisory skills
Excellent organizational skills, including managing projects, personal time management, coordination with project partners and clients
Spoken and written fluency in English. Other languages are an asset, particularly Spanish and/or French;

Ability to work well within teams across disciplines and cultures
Willingness to travel internationally.

What Climate Focus offer 

A full-time position in the form of a 1-year contract, with possible extension to a permanent position 
Office to be determined. Preference will go to EU-based candidates that can join the Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Berlin offices. But alternative office placement will be considered
