Global HR Intern – Data Insight Job description

Paid Internship / Fixed term for up to 6 months / Full Time (40 hours per week)

Location: Based in the Netherlands. Candidates should be already living in or able to quickly relocate to the Netherlands (at own cost), and have a Dutch social security number (BSN), or should be able to obtain Dutch residence permit and BSN on short notice. The Global HR unit of Greenpeace International is offering a paid internship for a student or recent graduate who wants to support our global HR data insights work. We are looking for someone who is available to join us from 15 January, 2024, for a period of six months.

You will be working in a distributed team of experienced HR and Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Safety specialists, supporting HR professionals in the Greenpeace Network. You will be working with the data insights function across several projects.

Your main project will be to support the annual workforce report in all its aspects – data collection, data cleaning, analysis, reporting and dashboarding, and data archiving. Other projects you will support will include optimising our external benchmarking tools and processes, and maintaining our highest standard of data governance.

What you can get from this Global HR Intern experience

It is a unique chance to experience working in a large not-for-profit international organisation. You will experience the complexities of working in an international environment and develop your understanding of the differences in HR operations and best practices around the globe. This internship will expand your knowledge of managing HR data in an international context.

You will receive real experience in managing datasets, data cleaning, data processing and analysis. You will learn how to use dashboarding tools and how to share your findings effectively. You will have the chance to familiarise yourself with SQL and use it in practice.

Global HR Intern Required skills and competencies:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Psychology, or other relevant subject or equivalent experience gained in another way
  • Some knowledge of/ experience in the area of people analytics
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, with additional languages considered an advantage.
  • IT proficiency: Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google mail and related applications. Proficiency with Excel, using formulas and using the basic statistical tools is a must. Some experience with dashboarding tools and SQL is an advantage
  • Comfortable with working remotely with people around the globe
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with a wide range of people in different roles.
  • Ability to take initiative and research independently, with ability to analyse and present key findings.
  • Proactive, organised and with great attention to detail
  • Open to learning new skills and readily take feedback on board.
  • Ability to act with discretion, and respectful of confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate support for and belief in Greenpeace core aims and values.

The fine print:

  • An Internship is intended for students or recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last twelve months.
  • Interns are entitled to 800 euros net as a monthly stipend (40 hours per week).
  • The Greenpeace International office in Amsterdam is open and available for working. A combination of remote (within the Netherlands) and from the office work is possible and is the most common way of working.
  • If not otherwise present at the office, the candidate should be able to commute into our Amsterdam office when invited to do so for specific meetings or events. Travel outside of Amsterdam may also occasionally be requested, for which necessary costs will be covered.
