The African Climate Leadership Fellowship, an initiative of GreenLead, is a transformative fellowship targeted at connecting young people on the continent of Africa to address climate problems in their communities through education, internships to gain practical skills, and community projects. Fellows develop an understanding of climate science and core areas affected by climate change, practical skills to inspire action, leadership, organization, and communication skills, inspiring climate solutions to local problems while learning from a network of peers and mentors.

The African Climate Leader Fellowship program is designed to empower the next generation of climate champions across Africa. This transformative initiative aims to equip emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks to drive positive change in their communities and tackle the urgent challenges of climate change.

African Climate Leader Fellowship Components

GreenLead’s mission is to build the capacity of the next Climate Leaders to contribute to building more inclusive and sustainable communities. The Fellowships explores the following Topics:

Eco System

Protecting the Eco-system together

Solar Energy

Community Projects Related to Renewable Energy

Save Water

Community Projects Related to Water Conservation

Sustainable Agriculture

Community Projects Targeted at Sustainable Agriculture

Accepted Fellows will be taken through:

A multi-module training program

Fellows will participate in a comprehensive, multi-module training program covering Climate Science, Sustainable Development and Green Economy, Climate Policy and Governance, Climate Advocacy and Communication, Community Engagement and Partnership Building, Project management, and Resource Mobilization.

Internship and Mentorship

Fellows will intern with participating organizations or any climate-focused organization to gain essential knowledge and practical skills to be abreast with industry practices and issues to build capacity for future projects.

Fellows will also be paired with an experienced mentor who will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout the program.

Capstone Projects

Fellows will design and implement innovative climate solutions tailored to their local communities.
