Head of Digital Transformation Job description

Greenpeace International (GPI) is seeking a Head of Digital Transformation to take responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day delivery of the newly created Digital Transformation Support Centre (DXSC). The purpose of this dedicated team is to support our National Regional Offices (NROs) in undertaking digital maturity assessments and designing contextual Digital Transformation strategies to guide the use of technology and data that achieves transformational impact over three years.

You will be leading and driving the development and implementation of digital transformation strategies, tools, processes and capacity building in order to achieve significant maturation across the Greenpeace network – enabling us to win campaigns, faster, and supporting an effective and efficient global organisation that reflects our mission to achieve a green and peaceful future.

In this Head of Digital Transformation role you will:

  • Contribute to the development and realisation of the Digital Transformation and Digital Maturity Strategies of the global network and specific NROs, to ensure Technology Transformation input is incorporated into organisational goals.
  • Steer digital maturity initiatives to be in line with the Greenpeace Technology Vision recommendations, global strategies and organisational principles.
  • Provide strategic and direct support to NROs in their digital maturation process, including facilitating training and developing tools that enable their work.
  • Act as a champion for digital transformation, providing leadership and support for the emergent community of practice around digital transformation.
  • Support the organisation to measure its progress against its digital maturity goals and map where it wishes to be in a rapidly changing landscape.
  • Ensure impact objectives from across the Greenpeace network are integrated and prioritised so they deliver strategic benefits.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders (People & Culture, Insights, Programme, Engagement, IT, Operations, Organisational Development, Finance) to manage the programme and realise benefits including: planning and control, stakeholder engagement, risk and issue management, budget management, governance and reporting.
  • Provide regular project updates to the global organisation, GPI Strategic Management Team and Executive Director community.
  • Line manage DXSC staff.
  • Be accountable for budget management and contract administration of consultants.
  • Ensure the DXSC’s Ways of Working and project team compositions include change management and culture change expertise.

Head of Digital Transformation Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Substantial experience in digital transformation or technology leadership, preferably in an international context.
  • Proven track record of leading in an organisation of significant scale and complexity at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change initiatives, building organisational capabilities and delivering measurable business results.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and drive change, as well as the ability to translate technical language to non-experts in a clear and engaging manner. .
  • Experience working with emerging technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a complex and evolving workplace and demonstrates resilience and accountability.
  • Experience working in a global context and a proven commitment to fostering a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Command of another language is a positive but not a requirement.
  • Commitment to and alignment with Greenpeace’s mission and values.

As part of this ambition a Digital Transformation Support Centre (DXSC) was created in Greenpeace International and is tasked with supporting all Greenpeace National Regional Offices (NROs) in their journey to implement the Greenpeace Technology Vision and overall Digital Transformation. The DXSC supports NROs with conducting digital maturity assessments, designing contextual Digital Transformation strategies to guide the use of technology and data that achieves transformational impact, and allocating funds to support digital transformation initiatives.
