The Near East Foundation (NEF) is offering a paid (college credit also available) internship through its US Headquarters office downtown Syracuse, NY. The internship will be hired for the January – May 2024 academic semester, with the possibility of renewal.

Our internships are in-person and require a commitment of 10 hours per week (maximum of 15 hours per week).

Undergraduate Hourly Rate:  $18

Graduate Hourly Rate:  $20

Learning and Partnerships Intern (one position)

The Learning & Partnerships intern will supports programmatic research and learning needs by playing a key role in managing, retrieving and communicating relevant information in a timely manner, collecting data and information from global colleagues, supporting learning and partnership functions, and writing and editing of reports, learning papers. They may also become involved in landscape analyses and information gathering related to funding partnerships and development of proposal-related and business development materials. 

The Learning and Partnerships Intern will report to the Vice President of Technical Leadership. The Learning & Partnerships Intern will:

  1. perform effective and timely research to support NEF learning and strategies
  2. Participate in and support ongoing research and learning initiatives, employing accurate research methods (including properly citing sources) and creating effective reference tools;
  3. collect, analyze, and interpret data and present metrics and findings to executive team
  4. Contribute to writing and editing various learning and external-facing documents, as assigned;
  5. Assist in developing learning products for diverse audiences including communities of practice, donors, and prospective donors;
  6. provide desk research;
  7. support special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled Graduate or undergraduate student in a related field with an excellent academic record;
  • Possess strong research skills and ability to effectively analyze and synthesize written material for relevance, clarity, and coherence;
  • Possess strong writing skills and editing abilities;
  • Possess strong computer skills including document formatting and chart, graph and spreadsheet creation;
  • Have a firm understanding of and familiarity with Africa and the Middle East;
  • Possess strong attention to detail excellent communications skills, and be capable of strong organization and systematic approaches to information management;
  • Bring a strong willingness to learn, keen interest in NEF’s work, and desire to engage with NEF staff globally;
  • Language competency in French and/or Arabic is highly desirable.
