IEA Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week Overview

The IEA has supported governments of major emerging economies in advancing energy efficiency policies and programmes through the Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies Programme (E4 Programme) since 2014. E4 works closely with six of the largest emerging economies – Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico and South Africa – as well as within regions, such as Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa, accelerating energy efficiency.

How IEA works:
– Policy development: we support the development of national strategies, targets, policies, regulations and monitoring systems.
– Research and analysis: we provide customised research and analysis to support and inform the decision-making of emerging economy officials responsible for energy efficiency policy.
– Thematic workshops: we bring together officials and experts from a range of countries to explore key topics and generate practical, locally-applicable solutions.
– Capacity building: we provide training for officials and future leaders, primarily through the E4 Training Weeks and a series of online, self-paced courses.

Africa IEA Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week

To be held 18-21 March 2024 in Kenya

Apply by 11 February 2024

We are pleased to announce that the International Energy Agency (IEA), in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Kenya, will host an Africa IEA Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week in person from 18-21 March 2024 inclusive in Nairobi, Africa.

The IEA has held in-person energy efficiency policy training weeks in Paris and major emerging economies and regions since 2015. Building upon the success of past IEA training weeks, the Africa IEA Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week will consist of five parallel courses on energy efficiency policy:

Buildings
Appliances and equipment
Industry
Transport
Indicators and evaluation

Each course offers a mix of lectures, interactive discussions and practical exercises that allow participants to learn from international best practices and each other.

The IEA Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week programme also includes joint sessions on assessing the potential for energy efficiency and communication campaigns.

The training is aimed at energy efficiency policymakers, principally from energy ministries and supporting institutions across Africa. We would, however, also accept applications from those in relevant sectors of industry or knowledge-based institutions.

Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
