About the African Climate Mobility Youth Solutions Grants for youth-led climate mobility solutions

Climate mobility, climate-induced migration and forced displacement, is growing concern in Africa. Despite contributing less than 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, Africa suffers disproportionately from the effects of climate change, including floods, droughts, landslides, and heatwaves.

In 2022, the Africa Climate Mobility Initiative (ACMI), in partnership with organizations such as the UNICEF, AU, YOUNGO, MYCP and RESILIENT40 launched the ACMI Youth Forum to empower youth to address these challenges and ensure meaningful youth inclusion in policy and practice. The mission of the Youth Forum is to provide a platform for youth to address climate mobility and the challenges faced by climate migrants and displaced communities in Africa.

Now, the ACMI Youth Forum and the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) Solutions Lab are launching a call for applications for youth-led climate mobility solutions/projects from Africa to receive funding of up to $5,000 per project. With funding support from the Robert Bosch Stiftung this new funding arrangement for youth-led climate mobility solutions/projects has been designed by the youth for the youth. We believe in harnessing the potential of young people and breaking the barriers to African youth access to climate finance, to create innovative solutions that promote climate resilience to enable people positive adaptation journeys amidst the climate crisis.
