The Student Energy Fellowship program provides youth with leadership and project skills training, energy knowledge, and networking opportunities with energy experts and a global cohort of Fellows.

To meet the world’s emissions reduction targets, address the climate crisis, and implement low-carbon technologies, we need a capable and diverse workforce motivated to accelerate the energy transition. The Student Energy Fellowship Program is designed for young people interested in and passionate about the energy transition, who can commit to completing the SE curriculum over the course of 8 months, from March 2024 to October 2024. The Fellowship consists of two separate Tiers Tier 1: Project Focused and Tier 2: Content Focused.
We offer two tiers of engagement tailored to the Fellow’s availability, expertise, and goals.
Tier 1: Project focused
This tier focuses on hands-on project development coaching with assignments to build out your project plans. It also provides online learning modules, professional and project development skills workshops, and social mixers to build your network. This tier accepts applications as a team or individual.
Tier 1 is intended for youth who can commit to developing a solid project idea over 8 months and completing a series of learning modules and assignment submissions. Fellows in Tier 1 will apply with an initial project idea in mind which they will develop with their coach in monthly meetings throughout the 8 months of the program. The 4 assignments serve as benchmarks in your project work and will help to define your project goals and scope.
You may apply to either Tier of the Student Energy Fellowship program as an individual. In Tier 1, you will meet individually with your coach every month for the duration of the program and complete all assignments individually.
Tier 2: Content focused
This tier focuses on online learning modules to complete at your own pace. It equips youth with professional and project development skills workshops, and opportunities to network with experts and Fellows. This tier accepts applications as an individual.
Tier 2 is intended for youth who do not have a project idea, but are interested in getting a foundational energy education and network with other youth in this space. Fellows in Tier 2 will complete a series of learning modules assigned each month and attend workshops and webinars throughout the 8 months of the program. Learning modules can be completed at your own pace, but must be completed by the end of the Student Energy Fellowship program.
A high-level overview of energy systems and project development skills, the Fellowship is for young people who are looking to take the next step on their energy transition journey. The Student Energy Fellowship program curriculum teaches the foundations of project development, providing skills that apply to any level.
As a multidisciplinary program, both Tiers of the Student Energy Fellowship program aim to help participants find their unique path towards accelerating the energy transition through the many possible career paths available today. We hope that Fellows will continue to use their skills, networks, and experiences from the program to continue accelerating the energy transition beyond the Fellowship.
