Uppsala University scholarships for prospective students

Uppsala University Scholarships are available each year for fee-paying international students applying for an international Master’s programme at Uppsala University. Please note that the Uppsala University scholarships are highly competitive; only about 2% of those who apply are granted a scholarship.

Uppsala University Scholarships application period

The application period for scholarships provided by Uppsala University for prospective international students starting a programme in autumn 2024 is 10–22 January 2024.

Uppsala University Scholarships Deadline

The deadline is 23:59 CET (Central European Time) on Monday 22 January 2024. Please consider the time zone. We do not accept late applications.

Uppsala University Scholarships for academic year 2024/2025

Some scholarships are open for all citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, while others are only open to citizens of certain countries. The scholarships available for application may vary from year to year.

Selection Process

Uppsala University’s scholarships are for students who are liable to pay tuition fees. The selection is merit-based. The scholarships are aimed at academically talented students who show an interest in being in an educational environment. Information about your academic performance will be obtained from the supporting documents that you submit when applying for Master’s or Bachelor’s studies at universityadmissions.se. The written motivational letter filled in your online scholarship application is also taken into account in the selection process.

Financial need is not a factor we consider.

The scholarship selection process takes place at the same time as the programme admission selection process. In order to be admitted to a study programme and be awarded a scholarship, you must meet all the general and programme-specific entry requirements for the study programme, as well as all the eligibility criteria for the scholarship programme.

Applicants who submit incomplete applications or do not apply on time will not be considered for a scholarship at Uppsala University.

Restrictions

Students admitted to the following programmes are not eligible for a scholarship:

  • Joint Nordic Master’s Programme in Environmental Law
  • Master’s Programme in Biology NABiS Nordic Master in Biodiversity and Systematics
  • Master’s Programme in Implementation, Transformative Learning and Sustainability
  • Master’s Programme in Religion in Peace and Conflict
  • Master’s Programme in Transformative Game Design
  • Master’s Programme in Turkic Studies
