Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship

Our Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship is your invitation to join us in the creation of knowledge that can change both the world, and your own career opportunities. It is our way of showing that there is no barrier to talent.

Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship Eligibility

To apply for the Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship, you must:

  • Be self-funded*
  • Be classed as an ‘overseas’ or ‘international-fee paying’ student for tuition fee purposes
  • Have applied for a full-time undergraduate course at the University of Warwick starting in Autumn 2024 before the UCAS application deadline of 31 January 2024. The course can be from any subject area (including our Foundation courses, but excluding the MBChB course). For a full list of our undergraduate courses, please visit our study pages.
  • Submit a scholarship application before 12:00pm on Wednesday 20th March 2024 BST
  • By 16th May 2024 you must be in receipt of an offer of a place to study at Warwick starting September 2024
*Self-funded definition

You are considered to be a self-funded student if you are financing your studies with your own savings or if you are receiving financial assistance from family or friends. If you take out a student loan to cover the cost of your studies you are also considered to be self-funded.

You are not self-funded if your fees are being paid by your employer or a third party (other than family and friends) or if you are in receipt of a study grant or scholarship external to the University.


How to apply for the Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship

Applications will open on 1st February 2024.

Eligible international applicants will be contacted with details on how to formally apply for the scholarship.

Please note: In order to apply for the scholarship you must first set up an IT account which can take up to 48 hours to verify. Once this is done, many of the application fields will be completed for you and any areas that need supporting information or statements from you will be clearly indicated on the application form.

Applicants will be required to answer the question “What makes you excellent?”

The objective is to learn more about what motivates you, how your excellence might benefit the Warwick community and how you hope your learning and experience at Warwick will help you make the World a better place once you graduate.

Answers can reference academic attainment, extracurricular successes and personal achievement but should not be a copy of the personal statement. You may write in essay or extended bullet point form but please don’t simply write a list. You should provide context and relevance to the objectives above. Responses are limited to 400 words.

After I have submitted my Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship application form

After you have submitted your scholarship application, you will receive an automated email confirming receipt of your submission. Applications will be scored as the University releases admissions offers however shortlisting will not take place until all applications have been processed.

The Awards Panel, chaired by the Provost Professor Emma Flynn will meet at the end of May. Applicants will be notified of the outcome via e-mail in the first week of June. Most eligible students will be emailed with a decision after the closing deadline, but we may contact you with a decision earlier if application criteria does not match the eligibility requirements.

Warwick will be processing admissions applications until the UCAS deadline in May and scholarship applications will need to be considered and scored in line with this. The scholarship outcomes will be released before the UCAS Reply By Deadline on the 8 June so that you can make an informed decision about your firm and insurance choices.

How will I know if I have been successful with my Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship application?

The University will start assessing applications as offers are made by Admissions. You will be notified of the outcome of your application via email once all applications have been assessed and the Awards Panel has met.
