Business Development Intern Field of activity
The business development department in the client and business development area (AGE) supports GIZ in business development and the direction of the company. In this way, business development helps to prepare the company quickly and in a solution-oriented manner for the changing requirements of its clients and the political environment and to always be able to react.
To this end, the department brings together GIZ’s expertise in agile, cross-organizational teams and ensures the coherent assessment and processing of business potential using suitable tools and methods. GIZ’s business development strategy (GES) is the basis and contributes to the strategic goals of the corporate strategy to achieve the GIZ 2028 target.
The focus is on (i) “Reacting to new geopolitical framework conditions and dynamics”, (ii) “Working in partnership alliances” and (iii) Digitally transformed societies – new concepts for IC”.
Business Development Intern Tasks
As part of your Business Development internship you will have the following tasks:
- You will support business development in the project management of various business development projects
- You will learn about agile methods (e.g. scrum) and apply them in cross-departmental teams
- They provide support in implementation and reporting as well as in research on key topics and the preparation of documents on donors, financing lines and competitors
- You independently research smaller and larger qualitative and quantitative task packages
- You write texts in German and English that can be used both internally and externally in communication
- You design presentations and present information in a graphically appealing way
- You support the methodological and content-related preparation and follow-up of meetings, for example interactive workshop formats (virtual and analogue) as well as knowledge management
Business Development intern profile
- You are at least in the 3rd semester or have completed a university degree (Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree), preferably in political, environmental or economic sciences
- One of your strengths is that you quickly and happily familiarize yourself with topics you are unfamiliar with and quickly recognize connections
- You have gained initial experience in project management, public relations and/or marketing
- You have initial knowledge of international cooperation and can classify GIZ and its position as a federal company
- You work independently, on your own initiative and precisely in German and English
- Great care and precision when writing presentations, texts, minutes and briefings, which you can write in a way that is tailored to the target group, even under time pressure
- You have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
