Join the SEI Latin America Centre and contribute to the development of our Institute’s presence in this dynamic region. Our centre, staffed by 28 professionals from seven countries across the Americas, specializes in policy-relevant research on water management and sustainable transitions. We are keen to enhance our team with dedicated environment and development professionals to foster further growth and impact. This role primarily supports our communications team, offering a diverse variety of activities in a regional centre active in ten countries across the Americas and the Caribbean.

About the Communications Assistant role

We are looking for a Communications Assistant to join the SEI Latin America communications team. Under the guidance of senior colleagues, you will support a broad range of activities to enhance our research dissemination. Ideal candidates are eager to gain experience in diverse communication tasks, including social media, graphic production and event planning. A strong work ethic and curiosity are vital for success in this fast-paced, multi-faceted role.

Communications Assistant main responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the communications team to implement plans developed with research project leaders.
  • Support activites like sourcing and managing service providers for communications products, services procurement and meeting logistics coordinaton.
  • Assist in planning and executing events and communications campaigns.
  • Create engaging visual content for multiple platforms.
  • Participate in managing social media channels and online platforms, including content design and creation.
  • Update the organization’s communications materials.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by senior communications team members to meet the ongoing research projects’ communications needs.

Who you are

You possess an undergraduate degree in communications or a related field, with up to one year of post-graduation professional experience. Your education and experience have honed your skills in graphic design software, showcasing creativity in producing innovative graphic and audiovisual content. You are a team player, able to collaborate across the organization and are proficient in both Spanish and English. Your ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, along with problem-solving and prioritization skills, will be key to your success.

Communications Assistant Preferred skills and experience

  • Advanced skills in graphic design software, especially the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).
  • Experience in creating visual content for print and digital media.
  • Social media management experience.
  • English proficiency at a B2 level or higher.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 360 suite of tools.
