Africa Youth for Migration Programme (AYMP) – Become a Migration Youth Ambassador
The Africa Youth for Migration Programme (AYMP) is a flagship initiative by the IOM Special Liaison Office to the African Union (AU) and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), in partnership with the AU Office of the Youth Envoy (OYE), and the African Union Commission (AUC) Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (WGYD).
The Africa Youth for Migration Programme initiative seeks to place young people within ongoing migration conversations, as well as enhance the active role and capacity of young people to respond to migration challenges on the continent. Under the Africa Youth for Migration Programme (AYMP), Migration Youth Ambassadors will be appointed to support and spearhead initiatives on migration in Africa.
The AYMP programme is rooted in the belief that youth play a critical role in advocacy, participation, decision-making, and empowerment, aligning with the objectives of the African Union Youth Charter and the 1 Million Next Level Initiative.
Through the AYMP programme, young people from Africa who are passionate about migration issues and have experience in advocacy, research, or creative content development will be invited to apply to become IOM Migration Youth Ambassadors. The selected ambassadors will be at the forefront of promoting awareness and understanding among African youth on migration issues, providing platforms for participation and engagement, and contributing to the knowledge base on migration and human mobility issues on the continent

The role of the Youth Ambassadors will be as follows:
- To enhance knowledge building and promote understanding among young people on migration issues, global and continental frameworks, policies, programs, and cross-sectional thematic interlinkages.
- To assist in providing platforms for participation and engagement of young people on migration issues to incorporate their valuable perspective and insight into the policy making process.
- To amplify the voices of youth across the continent through dialogue, advocacy, and representation, underscoring migration, and human mobility as accelerators for regional integration and sustainable development.
- To contribute to knowledge base including through innovative research, development of policy papers, and creative content on migration and human mobility issues in Africa

Le Programme de Jeunesse africaine pour la Migration (AYMP) est une initiative phare du Bureau de Liaison Spécial de l’OIM auprès de l’Union Africaine (UA) et de la Commission Economique des Nations Unies pour l’Afrique (CEA), en partenariat avec le Bureau de l’Envoyée Spéciale pour la Jeunesse de l’UA et la Direction Femmes, Genre et Développement de la Commission de l’Union Africaine (CUA).
Cette initiative vise à inclure les jeunes dans les discussions en cours sur la migration au niveau international, ainsi qu’à renforcer leur rôle actif et leur capacité à répondre aux défis de la migration sur le continent. Dans le cadre de l’AYMP, des Ambassadeurs de la Jeunesse pour la Migration seront nommés pour soutenir et mener des initiatives sur la migration en Afrique.
Le rôle des jeunes ambassadeurs sera de :
- Renforcer les connaissances et promouvoir la compréhension parmi les jeunes sur les questions de migration, les cadres normatifs internationaux et continentaux, les politiques, les programmes et les liens thématiques transversaux.
- Aider à créer des plateformes pour la participation et l’engagement des jeunes sur les questions de migration afin d’inclure leurs perspectives et leurs points de vue dans le processus d’élaboration des politiques publiques sur le continent.
- Amplifier les voix des jeunes à travers le continent par le dialogue, le plaidoyer et la représentation, en soulignant que la migration et la mobilité humaine sont des accélérateurs de l’intégration régionale et du développement durable.
- Contribuer à la production et la diffusion de connaissances, notamment par des recherches innovantes, l’élaboration de documents politiques et un contenu créatif sur les questions de migration et de mobilité humaine en Afrique.
