It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Human Resources Internship Assignment  

This Human Resources internship aims to offer post-graduate students or recent graduates a meaningful learning experience by supplementing their knowledge with real-world interventions. The Human Resources Intern will support the Head of Human Resources and Performance, Learning, Employee Engagement, Talent and Career Development functions within the Office of Human Resources (OHR). The Human Resources Intern will have an opportunity to learn and support the Fund in the broad talent management areas of performance management, training and learning, talent and career development and employee engagement.

The following aspects are some aspects of the work the Human Resources intern will be exposed to.  

Talent Development 

  • Research, analyse and present findings on talent management approaches and frameworks to support the GCF talent strategy; 
  • Contribute to the monthly learning initiatives and resources by researching various approaches and standards; 
  • Coordinate the relevant working groups that cover performance management, career development and LTA training arrangement activities; 
  • Support design and delivery of internally curated learning interventions including webinars, seminars and “Art of …” sessions; 
  • Monitoring the delivery of outsourced services and tracking the satisfactory delivery of deliverables; 
  • Perform other functions, as may be appropriate under the conditions of the internship. 

Administrative & Process Management 

  • Support in updating and maintaining HR internal databases with full compliance of HR processes and records with GCF rules, regulations, policies and strategies; 
  • Assist the preparation of the Internal HR Manual, by drafting workflows and instructions on several HR processes; 
  • Assist preparation of reports and communications for the internal website; 
  • Support with logistics for trainings, workshops and events in general; 
  • Support procurement and process payments for various suppliers on time; 
  • Participate in meeting and note-taking; 
  • Support other ad hoc activities as seen relevant and needed. 

Human Resources Intern Requirements and qualifications

  1. Enrolled and pursuing last year of Master’s program (or recently graduated) in ​Human Resources, Psychology, International Business, MBA,​ or related fields;  
  2. Good understanding and experience in Human Resources and operations of international organizations is an added advantage; 
  3. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Access; 
  4. Excellent writing and presentation skills; 
  5. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.

The above criteria should be seen as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for consideration. Selection among short-listed candidates will only be contacted and the pool will take into account for those who can start from February 2024.  

Depending on the visa you have, working conditions and internship availability may change. 

Upon performance evaluation, the internship period could be extended up to 12 months.  

Note that there is a 6 month cooling off period for applying staff positions upon completion of your internship.
