The Political, Business & Peace Unit of Greenpeace International is offering 4 paid internships in Political, Business & Peace for a student or recent graduate who wants to support our work.

Internships in Political, Business & Peace Unit available are:

  • Global Biodiversity Politics and Coordination focus (x2, target start date March and September 2024) – see description HERE.
  • Global Climate Politics focus (x2, target start dates are 11 March and September 2024) – see description HERE.

More details on 2 different projects are in the linked descriptions. Please note that administrative support is a key part of these internships.

The internship at Greenpeace International is a full-time position (40 hours per week) for a period of six months. Interns receive 800 euros net as a monthly stipend. As of the time of this advert, our office in Amsterdam is open and the internship can be a combination of virtual and in person from the GPI office.

You will be working within a global team of experienced environmentalists and political experts, and you will also have the chance to develop and execute a personal project.

Internships in Political, Business & Peace Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

Remember no one has every skill or experience needed for this role and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot from the team. We believe someone who has a few of these is well suited to exceed in this role. Please see more focused requirements also in specific internship documentation.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Political Science, International Relations or other relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Affinity with/ experience in the area of International Climate Politics or Global Biodiversity Politics
  • Excellent spoken and written English, including ability to produce clear meeting notes, other languages are an advantage
  • Experience with the multilateral climate &/ or biodiversity fora and processes (i.e., UNFCCC, CBD) is desirable
  • Great organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Event organising experience is a plus
  • Tech savvy: Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google mail and related applications, Zoom, etc..
  • Flexible approach and ability to operate under pressure, in a fast moving environment
  • Comfortable with working remotely
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to act with discretion and respect of confidentiality
  • Support for and belief in the mission and values of Greenpeace
  • Commitment to the principles of Diversity and Integrity

The fine print:

  • An Internship is intended for students or recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last twelve months.
  • Interns are entitled to 800 euros net as a monthly stipend (40 hours per week).
  • The Greenpeace International office in Amsterdam is open and available for working. A combination of remote (within the Netherlands) and from the office work is possible and is the most common way of working.
  • If not otherwise present at the office, the candidate should be able to commute into our Amsterdam office when invited to do so for specific meetings or events. Travel outside of Amsterdam may also occasionally be requested, for which necessary costs will be covered.
