Call for Research Proposals: Apply for the Climate Research Fund for African Students (CRFAS)

Overview

The Africa Youth Climate Fund (AYCF), an initiative by the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), is excited to announce a call for research proposals for the pilot phase of the Climate Research Fund for African Students. This initiative, developed in partnership with the University of Cape Coast, is designed to empower young researchers with the resources, mentorship, and platform needed to address Africa’s most pressing environmental and climate challenges. Through the Climate Research Fund for African Students (CRFAS), GAYO seeks to drive youth-led local innovation in Africa and create lasting solutions for the continent’s vulnerable communities.

As part of this pilot initiative, undergraduates and postgraduates from the University of Cape Coast are invited to submit research proposals focusing on 7 thematic areas. Selected research proposal will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to advancing climate science and driving practical solutions that address pressing environmental challenges. Successful applicants will receive support in the form of funding, mentorship, and access to resources to bring their research ideas to life.

This fund aims to strengthen research capacity within African institutions, foster collaboration, and provide an opportunity for youth to re-imagine the possibilities of becoming knowledge bearers, innovators, and inventors in the green transition.

NB: Projects must be on-ground and community-focused, aiming to directly impact people, places, and ecosystem.
