Job Description: One graduate research assistantship position for Ph.D. Doctoral program is available
within the Sustainable & Environmental Chemistry Group https://emh147.cfr.msstate.edu/
in the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts at Mississippi State University. The successful candidate will be working in the development of nanocellulose based biohybrid aerogel (BHA) for the removal of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from contaminated water.

One graduate research assistantship position for Ph.D. Doctoral program is available
within the Sustainable & Environmental Chemistry Group https://emh147.cfr.msstate.edu/
in the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts at Mississippi State University. The successful candidate will be working in the development of nanocellulose based biohybrid aerogel (BHA) for the removal of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from contaminated water.

The results of the project are expected to have broad environmental applications. The successful applicant will be receiving a degree from the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts under the College of Forestry Resources.

Qualifications for the Graduate Research Assistantship

The candidate should have a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related disciplines relevant to the topics of the study.

The candidate should have a GPA  3.5, GRE test report, and TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5 are required for
international students.

The candidate should possess exemplary organization and communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work alone and as part of a team in less than ideal environments.

Terms of conditions for Graduate Research Assistantship position:

The selected applicant will begin project work from Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 for a support period of three years for the Ph.D. program depending upon the performance of the student in the graduate studies. The assistantship will cover graduate student’s stipend, tuition waiver, and health insurance. Review of the applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Webex/video interview may be requested and only those selected for interview will be contacted. All candidates need to submit their application to the Mississippi State University Office of the Graduate School and abide by graduate school requirements and deadlines specific to fall 2023 or spring 2024 admissions.
