The types of Australia Working and Skilled Visa include the following:
Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
The Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, a state or territory, or a family member. To be eligible, applicants must have an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and meet the points test requirement. This visa allows the holder to live and work in Australia permanently, as well as access certain social security benefits and apply for citizenship after meeting the residency requirements.
Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
The Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government. To be eligible, applicants must have an occupation on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) and meet the points test requirement. This visa allows the holder to live and work in Australia permanently, as well as access certain social security benefits and apply for citizenship after meeting the residency requirements. However, it is important to note that each state or territory has its own specific requirements and processes for nomination.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491)
The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491) is a temporary visa for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia. To be eligible, applicants must have an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL), and must also be sponsored by either a state or territory government or an eligible family member living in a designated regional area. This visa allows the holder to live and work in regional Australia for up to five years, and may lead to permanent residency through the Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 191) pathway.
Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)
The Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) is a permanent visa for skilled workers who have been nominated by an Australian employer. There are three streams under this visa: the Temporary Residence Transition stream, the Direct Entry stream, and the Agreement stream. The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for subclass 457 or 482 visa holders who have worked for their employer for at least two years and meet other requirements.
The Direct Entry stream is for applicants who have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia and meet other requirements. The Agreement stream is for applicants who have been nominated by an employer through a labor agreement. This visa allows the holder to live and work in Australia permanently, and may lead to citizenship.
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187)
The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187) is a permanent visa for skilled workers who have been nominated by an Australian employer in regional areas. There are two streams under this visa: the Temporary Residence Transition stream and the Direct Entry stream. The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for subclass 457 or 482 visa holders who have worked for their employer for at least two years and meet other requirements. The Direct Entry stream is for applicants who have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia and meet other requirements. This visa allows the holder to live and work in Australia permanently, and may lead to citizenship.
