Application Deadline: 7 July 2023

OECD Internship Opportunity: Carbon Markets

Description
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation
comprised of 38 member countries that work to build better policies for better lives. Together with
governments, policymakers, and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international
standards and finding solutions to a range of social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Within
the OECD, the Environment Directorate (ENV) provides relevant and timely information, analysis, and
advice to support governments in identifying and implementing the environmental policies needed to
support a cleaner, more resource-efficient and low-carbon future.

The Directorate works across a broad range of issues such as climate change, biodiversity, water, eco-innovation, resource productivity and waste, environmental policy tools and evaluation, safety of chemicals, biotechnology and nanomaterials, and linkages between environment and tax, agriculture, energy, transport, development assistance, trade- and investment policies.

The Carbon Market Platform team of the OECD Environment Directorate is now seeking to recruit an
intern to contribute to the team’s work on the interplay between carbon credit markets, with a focus
on environmental integrity. The OECD’s work on the topic explores role of different carbon credit
markets (e.g. Article 6 under the Paris Agreement and voluntary carbon markets), how these interact,
and how they can uphold environmental integrity. This is done through both research and convening
activities, which inform policy discussions at the international level.

OECD Internship Main responsibilities
➢ Conducting desk-based research on issues related to international carbon markets and
environmental integrity, using a wide range of sources.
➢ Supporting quantitative analysis of carbon market data, including through data collection and
the preparation of visuals and graphs.
➢ Contributing to the drafting of analytical outputs as relevant.
➢ Supporting the administration of OECD and external meetings or workshops to present the
team’s analytical work.
