Call for Applications: Youth Workshop on ILLICIT Trade Fully Funded To Johannesburg, South Africa
This is a call for the Youth Workshop on Illicit Trade : A Threat to AfCFTA and Regional Peace & Security, a transformative event empowering Africa’s youth to drive sustainable peace and economic development.
ICOYACA and UNODC, with support from APRM, is organising a workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 09-10 October 2024. The event will gather approximately 40-50 youth participants from 10 Southern African countries to discuss issues related to illicit trade, crime and corruption, and their impact on peace and security. During the 2-day workshop, participants will develop country-specific action plans to advocate against illicit trade and related challenges, and will be equipped to transfer this knowledge to other youth within their networks. The workshop will feature sessions led by UN agencies, academia and Think Tanks.
Youth Workshop on Illicit Trade Objectives
1. Educate youth on the concepts of illegal, illicit, informal trade and trafficking and their impact on peace and security and economic inequities in Southern Africa.
2. Equip youth with the tools and skills to advocate for policies against corruption and illicit trade.
3. Encourage partnerships between youth, trade organisations, and peace and security groups to address trade-related challenges.
4. Create young champions, facilitators and organisers who can promote, implement, and adapt the acquired knowledge in their local communities and contexts.
