About EFAC: 

EFAC is a non-profit organization that provides an education-to-employment program for bright, disadvantaged Kenyan youth to foster leadership, economic opportunity, and social progress. 

About the Role: 

The Communication Officer will serve as a technical and creative resource within EFAC’s Communications team, supporting the implementation of the organisation’s communications strategy while providing direct support to the Programs and Development teams. 

This position requires a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and versatile individual with expertise in digital media production and visual storytelling – with a focus on the production and execution of high-quality multimedia content, including video, photography, graphic design, and social media materials, that powerfully convey EFAC’s mission and impact. 

The Officer will work closely with the Communications Team Lead to bring EFAC’s strategic vision to life, turning ideas and stories from the field into engaging, audience-appropriate content for donors, partners, and scholar/alumni audiences. 

EFAC’s audiences are diverse – spanning donors and sponsors seeking measurable impact, scholars and alumni who represent a vibrant Gen Alpha, Gen Z, and millennial community, and mission-aligned partners passionate about youth development. The Communication Officer must therefore be agile, culturally attuned, and creative enough to produce content that resonates across these varied audiences. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Multimedia Content Creation & Production 
  • Social Media Management 
  • Web Management 
  • Participate in Brand Messaging & Strategy 
  • Event planning and management 
  • Develop and execute campaigns for fundraising and strategic partnerships
  • Assist in the design and dissemination of internal and external publications, e.g., newsletters, magazines, reports, etc. 

Technical Requirements

Have technical ability with: 

  • Photo and Video editing software, i.e., Adobe Creative Cloud Suite tools: Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. 
  • Canva for rapid design production. 
  • Google Analytics tools for monitoring digital engagement. 
  • Hootsuite (or similar tools for social media scheduling and analytics) 
  • Email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, etc.
  • Content Management Systems (WordPress, Squarespace, etc.) 

Educational Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Public Relations, Film/Multimedia Production, or a related field. 
  • Additional certifications in videography, photography, digital marketing, graphic design, or web design will be an added advantage. 

Profesional and Ideal Requirements 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience; preferably in a busy media/journalistic space or non-profit sector. 
  • Proven experience producing multimedia content (videos, photography, graphic design). ● Demonstrable portfolio of creative work showcasing design, video, and photography content. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills. 
  • Experience managing social media accounts and campaigns. 
  • Good understanding of new social media technologies, e.g., Instagram, TikTok, etc.
  • A creative with amazing technical abilities in graphic, photo, and video storytelling
