The Financial Controller role
The primary focus of the Financial Controller role is to set targets for improvement in project financial planning and monitoring procedures, and to work with the controlling team in realizing these targets. You will work closely with project managers on proposal development and budgets, as well as financial monitoring, reporting, and audits. This role includes designing appropriate systems for financial monitoring that are relevant to specific projects.
As part of a team of 10, you will be reporting directly to SEI’s Financial Director. This international headquarter role requires frequent communication in English with the other SEI centers. Dialogue with funders and partners is conducted in both Swedish and English.
Key responsibilities of the Financial Controller :
- Draft, review, and approve project budgets
- Develop and manage project financial monitoring systems
- Oversee and compile project financial reports for funders
- Prepare project financial audits
- Collaborate with Team Leads on budgets and forecasts
- Serve as an advisor for the financial management and control systems of the SEI international centers in Bangkok, Nairobi, and Bogota
Your profile
We are seeking a candidate with at least three years of relevant experience in financial budgeting and reporting, ideally with an academic degree in finance. You should have excellent analytical skills and the ability to structure and organize your work efficiently.
As the Financial Controller role involves collaboration with key project stakeholders, we are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who enjoys working in an international environment.
Proficiency in MS Excel and experience managing systems for financial monitoring are essential. Fluency in Swedish and English is also required.
Qualifications for Financial Controller role:
- Academic degree in finance or other relevant field
- Minimum of three years of experience in financial controlling
- Fluency in English and Swedish
- Advanced user of MS Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
- Experience with Business Intelligence Systems such as Power-BI
